2024-2025 Board Goals
District Goals
1. IMPROVE UPON OUR COMMUNITY PRESENCE:
Distribute an Annual Survey for parents and guardians, to be returned by February of the current academic year. This survey will “take the pulse” of all stakeholders regarding the many moving parts of the Hazlet School district.
Offer a “Coffee with the BOE” to the community either bimonthly or once a quarter. This will provide the community an opportunity to connect with the Board in a more casual setting outside the monthly meetings. At least one BOE member will attend alongside the Superintendent.
Continue to showcase schools and their students at each board meeting.
Prioritize announcements of events by a student member to encourage community involvement.
Post BOE goals on the District website.
2. APPLY FOR NJDOE FULL DAY PRE K FUNDING
The District is dedicated to promoting a cohesive and comprehensive educational pathway from preschool and beyond for all students and will apply for this funding, if offered, when the invites are sent in July, 2025. By implementing evidence-based best practices and making systemic improvements as this initiative rolls out, we aim to provide a full-day, developmentally suitable, challenging, and enjoyable learning experiences for every PRE-K child who matriculates in Hazlet.
3. DOWNSIZE TRANSPORTATION COSTS
In accordance with State law, N.J.S.A. 18A:39-1, evaluate the possibility of redefining current district bus routes to reduce transportation costs while continuing to meet the legal requirements for students who are classified with special needs as per their IEP.
4. POLICY REVIEW
Create a committee composed of interested and relevant stakeholders that will review and update all non-mandated policies.
