Hazlet Middle School: School Counseling

Intervention and Referral Services

Intervention and Referral Services is a coordination of system procedures in each school building. Intervention and referral services are designed to assist students who are experiencing learning, behavior or health difficulties, and to assist staff who are having difficulties addressing student’s learning, behavior, or health needs. Functions of the Intervention and Referral Services are to identify learning, behavior, and/or health difficulties of students through collecting information from a variety of resources, develop and implement a plan of action, and provide support guidance and professional development to school staff who participate in the I&RS process.  In addition, it may actively involve parents or guardians in the development and implementation of intervention and referral services action plans.

Please contact your child's school counselor for additional information.
