Letter from the Principal

January 20th, 2023

Dear Beers Street Families,

Talent Show Practice is Wednesday, January 25th, from 3:00 - 4:00 PM.

On Wednesday, January 25th, we will hold our "Stick it” to Cancer Fundraiser. During lunch, students will have a chance to stick me, their principal, to the cafeteria wall with duct tape. We are asking for a $1 donation for one strip of duct tape or $5 for a 'Power Piece' of duct tape. All proceeds will go to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Next week is the Great Kindness Challenge. There are activities planned that are designed to foster a culture of kindness. Below are the scheduled kindness theme days:

Monday, Jan 23 - Proud to be on Team Kind. Wear a sports jersey or team gear.

Tuesday, Jan 24 - Dreaming of a world filled with kindness. Wear PJs.

Wednesday, Jan 25 - Being kind is no sweat. Wear sweatshirts and sweatpants.

Thursday, Jan 26 - Tip your hat to kindness. Wear a hat.

Friday, Jan 27 - Show your school some kindness. Wear your spirit gear or Bears Street green.

We are pleased to announce that 5th graders will begin the L.E.A.D. program (Law Enforcement Against Drugs) next week. The program's focus includes drug prevention, goal setting, decision-making, and conflict resolution. We are excited to welcome Officer Megan Quinn of the Hazlet Police Department. She will be teaching the character development program.

When emailing the school nurse about your child's absence, please send the email to  bssattendance@hazlet.org. You may also continue to report absences by calling nurse Pat Raphael at 732 264-1107, ext. 3003. Thank you!

Raritan High School will be putting on the musical production Annie in March. Click here for show dates and more information.

Language arts tutoring is offered on Tuesdays, and math tutoring on Thursdays. Tutoring sessions go from 2:50 - 3:45 PM. There is no bus for tutoring. Therefore parents should make transportation arrangements. If you would like your child to attend tutoring, please complete this form and return it to your child's homeroom teacher.

Enjoy the weekend!

Sincerely,

Ian Collis

Principal
