Fifth graders are currently in the middle of an extremely detailed portrait of a chosen Egyptian God / Goddess, inspired by our discussions and visual examples focusing on ancient Egyptian beliefs and 'afterlife' practices. They have sketched out and are coloring their chosen character using oil pastels. Each of them wears a decorative necklace and headdress. As a final touch, they will be designing a cartouche (name emblem) written in hieroglyphics which will be printed onto their finished image.
