Letter from the Principal

October 6th, 2023

Dear Beers Street Families,

School is closed for students on Columbus Day, Monday, October 9th. Staff will attend professional development.

Today's Buddy Breakfast was a great way to end the Week of Respect. Thank you PTO for purchasing breakfast for our entire student body!

On Wednesday, October 11th grades 5 & 6 will attend an assembly focused on bullying and cyberbullying presented by the Monmouth County Sheriff's Department. On Thursday, students will attend an assembly presented by the Hazlet Fire Department and learn about fire safety.

On Friday, October 13th, staff and students are encouraged to wear pink for breast cancer awareness.

The PTO Silly String-O-Ween fundraiser has begun! The homeroom that donates the most money between now and October 27th will get to silly-string me, the principal, at the Halloween Dance. Donations go towards funding field day.

During October, when you shop at Stop & Shop on Rt. 36 in Keyport and purchase the reusable Community Bag, a $1 donation will be made to the Beers Street School PTO. You can see the flyer here.

Beers Street School PTO membership is $10 per family, but all monetary donations are greatly appreciated. Dues can be paid via Venmo- @BeersStreetPTO. Please include your child's first name, last name, and teacher in the message box. Dues can also be paid by sending in cash or a check. Checks should be made out to "Beers Street PTO." Here's a link to the form and instructions.

When emailing the school nurse about your child's absence, please send the email to bssattendance@hazlet.org. You may also continue to report absences by calling nurse Pat Raphael at (732) 264-1107, ext. 3003. Thank you!

Please complete the Family ID online emergency card if you still need to do so. This must be completed every year. You can find a link to the instructions here

Have a great weekend!

Sincerely,

Ian Collis

Principal
