After graduating Raritan High School in 2005, I took advantage of the NJ STARS I scholarship and attended Brookdale Community College concentrating my studies on education and history.  Upon completion of Brookdale In 2007 and with the help of the NJ STARS II scholarship, I continued my education at Rowan University in Glassboro New Jersey.  I earned my B.A. degree in History and Education in 2010 and immediately began substitute teaching in the Hazlet School District.    I was hired full time for the 2011-2012 school year and am currently in my twelfth year of teaching.  In May of 2017 I earned my Master's Degree in European History from Monmouth University. Most recently I was named the James Madison Memorial Fellowship recipient for NJ. This award will provide me with funding to pursue a Master's Degree in American History.

          In my spare time I enjoy staying active through a variety of activities including swimming, running, hiking, surfing, kayaking and simply being outdoors.  If you find yourself in my classroom this year I hope I can inspire you to think globally and expand your worldview!  If you have additional questions, please check out my resume or email me at dstephenson@hazlet.org.
