Health Policies from Dr. Lusk
Illness/Injuries/First Aid in School:
A child with an oral temperature of 100.4 degrees or above and/or presenting symptoms which in the professional opinion of the nurse are symptomatic of illness, should be sent home
The student should be afebrile for at least 24 hours before returning to school.
Following a vomiting incident, the student should remain at home for at least 24 hours
Students out of school for more than 3 days will need clearance and a note from their primary care physician or doctor to return back to school

Common Childhood Illness Policies:
Head Lice-Student excluded from school until treatment is given and the child is nit free.
Ringworm-Student excluded from school and must have a doctor's note to return.
Impetigo-Student excluded for 24 hours and must have a doctor's note to return.
Conjunctivitis(Pink Eye)-Student excluded from school and must have begun treatment/medication for 24 hours and a doctor's note to return to school.
Strep Throat-Student excluded from school and must have two doses of antibiotic therapy and be fever free prior to returning to school.
Chicken Pox- Student excluded for approximately 7 days or until vesicles are crusted over.
Rashes-Student excluded from school until diagnosis is made by a doctor and treatment started if needed.
Fever-Student should be fever free (under 100.4oF) for 24 hours before returning to school (without fever reducing medication- i.e. Tylenol/Motrin).
Vomiting-Student should not have vomited in the 24 hours before returning to school
Diarrhea- Student should not have had an episode of diarrhea in 24 hours prior to returning to school.
