Office of Educational Technology

"If a child does not learn the way we teach, we need to teach the way they learn."

Hazlet Township Public Schools are committed to this philosophy and to providing an optimal learning environment that will prepare our students for the 21st century.

Children in the early 21st century face the challenges of living and working in a world connected by information and communication technologies. The Board of Education, administration, and staff at Hazlet Township Public Schools are committed to preparing our students to live and learn in this world.

The power of technology has increased dramatically over the past decade and multiple media and communication technologies require us to rethink the structures and practices of our education system.  The practices of teachers and administrators during the last century may not accurate reflect the way our children learn in 2016.

The learning environment, and more importantly, the learning goals of our children need to reflect the 4 C’s which include:  Communication, Collaboration, Critical Thinking, and Creativity.  Developing a meaningful and relevant curriculum with these goals for student achievement will prepare our students for learning, working, and thriving in our rapidly evolving world.

Our task as educators is to implement a rigorous, relevant and engaging curriculum delivered by highly qualified teachers.  Hazlet Township Schools are creating an optimal learning environment, rich with technology and resources, combined with contemporary learning goals for our students.

This year our schools are equipped with:

  • New computer labs
  • Wireless access in all buildings for network and internet
  • Over 200 iPads for students in all grades
  • Apps to support learning in Math, Language Arts, Reading, Science and Social Studies
  • A variety of web-applications and software that support our curriculum
  • Study Island to increase student proficiencies in Math, Reading, and Science (grades K-8)

To support these technologies numerous Professional Development opportunities will be provided for all staff throughout the school year.

Our commitment is to student learning and we look forward to an exciting year using these new technologies!
